Eyebrow craniotomy

Eyebrow craniotomy

In this approach the incision is made through the eyebrow and a small skull opening.
With this approach the distance to the target pathology is short and surgery is performed under endoscpe vision with minimal or no brain retraction. It is well known that brain retraction can cause significant changes in its function.
After the surgery there is eyelid swelling for approximately two weeks. Once swelling subsides and incision is healed it completely disappears behind the eyebrow.

Indications for surgery

  • Anterior skull-base tumors like meningiomas,
  • Suprasellar region tumors like craniopharyngiomas etc,
  • Internal carotid aneurysms that are not suitable for endovascular treatment.
